The focus here is not on what’s beautiful, good, and true, but rather on things bizarre, quirky, disquieting, and ugly. Since its inception, the museum has been collecting excellently crafted objects but also regularly acquiring items from an alternative universe. At the same time, the way we perceive things changes constantly: What was once new and extraordinary may make us shake our heads in wonder today, an incredulous smile on our faces. (Christian Brändle)
