Dedicated graphic designers give special weight to the development process. By experimenting with materials and techniques, they evolve new forms of expression with which to visually emphasize the message of a book cover or poster, or instead to deliberately obscure it in order to lend the content a new dimension. Controlled chance often plays a role here. Sometimes the experiments are also of a conceptual nature. The results and their implementation put our perceptual habits to the test. (Barbara Junod)
