The designer and artist couple Susi (b. 1938) and Ueli Berger (1937–2008) took advantage of the new vacuum-forming process to produce an amorphous hanging lamp. In contrast to conventional cylindrical or cone-shaped lampshades, the Cloud Lamp has no symmetry but instead looks different from every angle. Hung freely in the room like a lantern, the lamp shines forth as the antithesis of Gute Form—a cumulus cloud in a cartoon sky. The Basel manufacturer Lüber wanted to add some new small furnishings to its range and produced the Cloud Lamp from 1976 to 1979. The Museum für Gestaltung Zürich then brought out a limited edition in 1999, and the lamp has been sold since 2002 by Wohnbedarf in Zurich.
