After completing her studies under Sophie Taeuber-Arp at the Kunstgewerbeschule Zürich, Marianne Straub continued her education in 1932 at Bradford Technical College in England, as the Zurich school for silk weaving did not accept women. In England, where she specialized in weaving techniques, Straub (1909–1994) applied her artistic and technical knowledge in the textiles industry, on which she would have a great influence: in 1947 as chief designer and managing director of Helios, and in 1950 as a partner of Warner & Sons, where she stayed until 1970.
