It was not until the 1950s that the convenience of taking the train was put forth as a compelling argument. Praise for the ease of rail travel targets its increasing competitor: the car. The downright opulent red armchair, symmetrically placed front and center in the image, beckons the viewer to sink into its cozy embrace. Luminous colors and the speech balloon are typical of the period’s Pop Art aesthetic.
