With his small posters, the Neo-Dadaist and Fluxus artist Ben Vautier (b. 1935) radically challenges the structures and game rules of the art market. Humorous and ironic text images with a typically graphical look have become the artist’s hallmark. Short statements and questions on his posters with provocative content beg us to try and contradict them. By bringing in his own ego as an artist into his work, Vautier playfully styles himself as a Gesamtkunstwerk.
