Adrian Frutiger – Méridien

Méridien (1957) is based on Latin typefaces. Adrian Frutiger used the same elongated serifs but without their typical ornaments. Méridien thus ensures easily readable body text. Frutiger already designed a Latin-based majuscule typeface called Phoebus in 1953 for titles, and in 1984 he created Versailles, an interesting experiment that shows how a typeface can incorporate numerous playful elements without affecting legibility.
