What people wear next to their skin, underneath their clothing, is usually invisible in everyday life. On store shelves, however, undergarments showcase themselves through packaging—photographed on an attractive body or as a pictogram. The ancient game of modest concealment and demonstrative flaunting, capable of lending undergarments an erotic charge, is also brought into play in the design strategy used in their packaging: a certain pose, close-up, transparency, or a viewing window may provide a fleeting view—but never of an erogenous zone.
