When precious Japanese sword guards (tsubas) meet up with sockets and switches produced by the Feller company, established in 1909, the result is a lighthearted play of round and rectangular forms, of necessary openings and perforations made just for decoration, of functional labels and delightful ornament. What they all have in common is that they protect the user from unchecked energy. While the guard protects the hand of the swordsman from the blade of his opponent, the plastic or porcelain enclosure of switch and socket guard the human hand from the electrical voltage hidden behind them.
