The Swiss ceramist Andreas Steinemann (b. 1957) arrestingly succeeds in creating two completely different bowls from the same starting point. He uses black and white as dominant tones, and thus maximum abstraction from a natural color palette. While for the one bowl he cuts squares from a rolled plate and assembles them into a sharp-edged staggered landscape, in the other he lets a band loop around itself in a harmonious tangle. The three-part foot ring makes the two bowls appear to float above the ground like supernatural phenomena.
